SEED SOWING AND TRANSPLANTING
Our information emphasizes sowing broccoli seeds from mid to end of February in the nursery, aiming for a density of one seed per plug with about 220 seeds per tray. Transplanting of seedlings should occur mid to end of April, when seedlings have three to four leaves and reach a height of 8 10 centimeters. We recommend drip irrigation. Plant population is 35 000 to 40 000 plants per hectare.
DISEASE AND PEST CONTROL
Effective disease and pest control is necessary. It starts with controlling cut worms after transplanting. Aphid control during the active growth period is also important. No chemicals should be applied during the pod stage, especially for sprouting broccoli.
HARVESTING AND CONDITIONING
Seed stalks with ripened pods are cut by hand when still green, with seeds physiologically ripe. Stalks are packed in wind rows in the field for 10 to 14 days to dry. Combining can begin after this drying period. Harvested seeds are kept in bags for delivery at the seed cleaning facility. We guarantee the seeds are handled with care.
SEED YIELD
Farmers can expect an average seed yield of 800 to 1200 kilograms per hectare. Yield depends on variety. Our practices and recommendations are based on deep knowledge. We follow these to maximize seed production for clients.
